HELLO?!?!?!

Um, mom, I know you were here last weekend, but it's Tuesday night now, and no results!! Let's see how we've all kicked butt this week!!

Miranda, I haven't heard from you on here in a while. How's it going? We're heading to Nauvoo next week and I need some pointers from you guys on how to do good when all the cooking and everything is out of my control!!

Have you discovered these yet?

I used to think that Fiber One bars were the best things ever. A perfect substitute for a candy bar. However, I found there little treasures and they are even better! These are from Kellogg's and are Dark Chocolate and Almond. YUM!!! They're pretty filling too, and they're 2 points! Drink a big glass of water with one and it's a great snack (or breakfast on the go). But beware: How's everyone doing this week? Good luck!!

It was so cold and rainy here yesterday that I went upstairs and wrapped up in a warm blanket and fell asleep. Hannah woke me up when she came in from school. Still rainy and still cold. I made chocolate chip cookies ate about 5 cookies in dough and then another two cookies. Went to play practice and then home to a TV dinner. Still stayed within my points but didn't get any check marks. Maybe it will be better tomorrow. Rain = Dieters Nightmare!

Uh Oh!

What a week!
Sounds like I'm in trouble! Sounds like you guys have had great weeks!! YAY! Good for you!! Me...I cant say the same. :P It has been such an emotional and stressful week at school and at home this week. I haven't been doing my best. I'll admit, I haven't exercised at all this week! :( I walk at school with my backpack (park far away, so I can walk) but I haven't actually gotten on the treadmill. :( I know, bad! I've actually missed it! Next week will be better! I thought I'd give you guys a week to maybe catch up! ;) Eating hasn't been too bad. I've been careful with what I've eaten because I know I wouldn't be able to exercise. So, that wasn't to bad. We'll see what the scale says on Saturday!! Oh, are we weighing in on Saturday? I though most people were doing Saturday, but I wasn't sure.

Goal for tomorrow:exercise!

I'm glad everyone had a good/healthy week!!

Rainy Day

It's a cold rainy day here today. I think the high is only 57 degrees, and with the wind and wet, it will feel a lot colder than that! It's fun to have days like this sometimes and just hang out in the house with sweats on, but my problem is all I want to do is BAKE! I had to come up stairs and out of the kitchen to avoid making oatmeal bread, fresh homemade baguettes, pumpkin cookies, these really cute carmel popcorn balls (that look like carmel apples!), and anything else sugary and sweet! Does anyone have a good recipe for something to bake on cold rainy days? Pumpkin cookies really aren't that bad, if you can stand to only eat 1 or 2. But my biggest problem is portion control. Maybe I'll make them before dinner, then just put them away as soon as they're done, instead of leaving them on the counter for me to munch on. Out of sight, out of mind, right? For those you you who don't have this recipe, it's the easiest recipe ever, so I'll share it with you all!

PUMPKIN COOKIES:
1 spice cake mix
1 can of pumpkin (16 oz size I think)
chocolate chips

Mix together, make at 350 for about 17-20 minutes. I think the recipe usually makes about 36 cookies, and that puts them at about 2 points a piece (if you're doing weight watchers!)

Good luck everyone, and please share any baking goodies you might have that are healthy!!

Watch Out, Here I Come

I am having a great Weight Watcher week!! Even though I only get a measly 21 points a day, I have been doing GREAT!! I have a feeling that this week is going to be great for me. One thing I have been doing is I cooked a big pot of broccoli and cauliflower. Whenever I am hungry, I heat some up, sprinkle some Colby-Jack cheese on top and YUM. A whole plate is only 2-3 points. What a great snack and so filling. Oatmeal is also my best friend. Low points and oh so filling. Can you tell that both of these items are 'filling foods?" Yeah, I am a good girl! Let's see what Saturday says!

Great Weekend - Horrible Weekend

It was great to have Sarah's family here for the weekend but I did HORRIBLE at watching what I ate. A lot of good it does to pay my $12 to Weight Watchers and then eat cake and crepes and cookies. Sarah is NOT a good influence. She gets nursing points and I realized that I can't keep up with her eating. I am bummed but did better yesterday than Saturday and today is going to be a great day (eating wise). Wish me luck!

From: Miranda

Today is one of those days when I'm ready to be skinny and healthy now! I know it's only been two days but I'm the kind of person who would like to see immediate results! I like to know all my hard work is going towards something! Like losing weight, but I'm afraid to get on the scale!

It's like saying a prayer for patience
"Please bless me with patience and please bless me with it NOW!"
That's how I feel, do you guys ever feel like that?

From Miranda:

Day 2:
ME vs. THE TREADMILL
I will win! Today it kinda kicked my bum! I did it though, 2 miles. I did 40 minutes on the treadmill then 10 doing crunches. But I'm feeling it now. I am so tired! haha-I had a whole post in my head, but honestly now I can't remember a thing I wanted to say! Hopefully I will later tonight!
Hope everyone had a GREAT day!
OH, i just remembered something I was going to say! Does anyone have some good core exercises? I need something for my "body". Like for my chest and tummy and hips. Any suggestions?

From Miranda:

Good Morning!! It is such a beautiful day here!! I LOVE FALL!! I thought I'd share some words of encouragement:make a good healthy choice today!
I want to take care of my body to be a better mother and just to feel better. Today I woke up and got Abby to the dentist then off to school and then worked out for 45 mins and did 2 miles on the treadmill today! (that's right! I'm bringing it!) Mind you, it was not running but "fast walking" ;) Then had a good breakfast! "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!"
I was having a hard weekend but Saturday night at the RS broadcast and on Sunday at fast and testimony meeting, I was reminded of the most important thing! I am a child of God! He loves me! He gave me the responsibility to take care of my body, so I will!
I hope everyone has a beautiful day! Don't forget to SMILE today!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you...

Just kidding. I'm excited to see how everyone else did. Morgan, I don't have your e-mail address to invite you to be an author on this blog. If you'll e-mail it to me (or leave it in the comments) I'll get that out to you so you can post on here too. My e-mail is sarahharward@hotmail.com. And anyone else who is wanting to join in and needing to be added as an author, let me know.

Anyway, I am re-committed to writing everything down this weekend. It worked well for me this past week, but yesterday I haven't done quite as well. But I'm letting you all know now, so I'm responsible to someone. So, good luck everyone! Do great!!!

Oh yeah, and I made Mexican Beef Skillet this week, and it's only 4 points for one sixth of the whole thing. (I do realize that not everyone is doing weight watchers, and so you might get sick of hearing about points, but since that's what I'm doing, that's all I know! But just so you know, 1 point is about 50 calories)

Okay, so here's the recipe:

MEXICAN BEEF SKILLET:

1 pound ground turkey
1 green pepper
1 onion

Brown the turkey with the pepper and onion. Drain.

ADD:
1 can of diced tomatoes (I just used 2 fresh tomatoes)
3/4 cup dried minute rice
3/4 cup water
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp garlic salt
1/2 tsp salt

Cover and simmer about 13 minutes (if I remember right) pretty much just until the rice is done.

Then I ate it with about a cup or so of shredded lettuce and a tablespoon of sour cream. Adding lots of lettuce makes it seem like you're eating a TON of stuff. And it was good. I think I'll make some tomorrow to have in the fridge to eat all week for lunch. Good luck everyone!

From Miranda:

WAY TO GO SARAH!!! I'm gonna have to kick it up a notch!!! I hope everyone had a good week last week and an even better one this week!! I think the writing down what you eat is a great idea!! I've done that and it works for me as well. It really helps you see what I'm eating and what I'm wasting calories on, all the empty food I'm eating. I found this blog, don't know if it will help but I found a few good things on it.
http://www.theenlightndwoman.com/
Check it out and see if you find anything!! Good luck and hope everyone has a great week!! Let's go be losers!! ;)

FIRST WEEK

The first week is under our belt (that could be funny). There are still some wanting to join and some that haven't emailed me their starting weight (kathyporter5@hotmail.com). I am out of town so I can't post results this week but I do want to say that SARAH LOST 4 POUNDS! That's great. I know one of the Weight Watcher tricks is writing down EVERYTHING you eat and I know Sarah was doing that this week. This week, if you are serious about losing weight, try writing down what you eat. Put a piece of paper on the fridge and:
IF YOU NIBBLE IT,
SCRIBBLE IT.
IF YOU BITE IT,
WRITE IT!

A blog that might be helpful...

I was checking my facebook page (which is a joke, because I really don't ever do anything on there!) but one of my 'friends' put a link to this blog. www.faithprecedessize10.blogspot.com She has three types of posts. Food for thought. Food for the body. Food for the Spirit. I'm guessing she might be doing weight watchers, because all of her recipies have point values assigned to them. But it might be a good thing to check out. Lots of gospel inspired quotes and thing that can help us in more than just getting skinny!

By the way, WHY ISN'T ANYONE ELSE POSTING ON HERE?!?! How's everyone doing this week? I feel like I've been doing pretty good this week, but I can't wait to finish nursing, because I'm ALWAYS HUNGRY!! I've just been trying to drink a lot! And chew gum. My jaw is getting sore though...

This is how it works...

So, I talked with mom today and I think we decided that we'll make everyone an author of this blog (and you should have the invite in your e-mail. If not, post a comment to this post with your e-mail address and I'll send you an invite), so when you get on to post something, just sign into your blog like normal, and you'll be able to post to this blog.

Every Saturday our percentage of weight loss and rank will be posted. So be sure to get your weights e-mailed into Kathy by Saturday morning at the latest!! And to be consistent, try to weigh yourself on at the same time with the same scale.

Also, if you have any recipes you've found or love, POST THEM! We're all wanting tips on good, healthy food!!

Now, go get skinny!!

From Sarah:

LETS GET THIS PARTY STARTED!!! I'm excited about this, and I'm with Miranda, lets be a support system. I'll think about lunch idea's Miranda. One thing you can do to save calories is to use lettuce leafs instead of bread for your sandwich. Bread is a lot of points (if doing weight watchers) so you could make it kind of like a lettuce wrap with turkey, low-fat cheese and lots of veggies. And for those who are always wanting a sweet snack, I've found that tootsie roll pop suckers are good. They're not very many calories and take a long time to eat, and once you're done sucking on all that sugar, it pretty much cured your craving. Just an idea!

Let The Race Begin

Get on your mark....
Get set.......
On Friday, September 18 we begin another round of Biggest Loser. I need to know who is in. Invite friends, family, anyone and everyone.

I'm thinking the gift cards didn't work so well (many did not send them). I have a couple of ideas but I want to hear what you think. Let's post some ideas of creative rewards for those of us who stick with it and finish lighter than we started.
